Beta-Reading Services Now Available!

Saturday, August 31, 2019

I was listening to Rachel Hollis’s Rise podcast last week. One of the episodes I listened to was “107: Stop Procrastinating.” In this episode, Rachel is ranting about how we make excuses, so we don’t live up to our dreams. She asked her listeners, what dream are you not fulfilling? When I heard this, something is my heart sparked about beta-reading.

It is my dream to grow my blog to offer paid services and paid resources. One day I will sit down with a cup of coffee blogging my heart out and helping clients with their work, rather than going to an 8-5 job. I love making my own schedule and grinding at something I am passionate about. This is why I have decided to offer beta-reading services to the public for the first time.
I have been beta-reading novels, screenplays, poetry, creative nonfiction essays, and flash fiction for the past six years. My favorite part of workshop classes when I was in college was workshopping classmates’ pieces and watching them grow into amazing complete works. It brings me so much joy to see how far works have come from the beginning to the end. As a post-grad, I have continued to read for old critique partners, but I truly want to read for other authors I’ve never read before.

Now I know you may be thinking, “how much are you charging?” Crazy enough, at this point, I have decided to beta read for free. I’m doing this to build my clientele, but also to perfect my technique on how I want to deliver critique. And I want you to be a part of my journey and take advantage of my FREE service.

Over the next couple of months, I will be sharing blog posts on beta reading techniques and how I beta read. When these posts are up, I will come back and link them in this blog post. This will allow you to get a sense of how I read and give you tips on looking for other beta readers.

If you’re ready to let me beta read your work, please visit my new services page here. You will be asked to fill out a quick form to give more information about your work. After that, I will send you an email on when I can beta read your work. At this point, I’m taking completed works and also works in progress.

Before I go, thank you so much for helping me reach my dreams, dear readers. Without you, this blog and also my resources wouldn’t be worth much. You all keep my grinding and believing in myself. I appreciate every single one of you. Happy writing!

  1. Aspiring authors definitely need beta readers. What kinds of books do you read? I have a new adult novel with paranormal realism that I need opinions on. Would you be interested or have time?
